A veritable colossus of French football, Thierry Henry’s achievements read like an extract from the Guinness Book of Records. World champion, European champion and France’s all-time leading goalscorer – and those are just a few of the high-profile Frenchman’s exploits.
Long before being crowned the unofficial King of France, Henry was no different from any other child his age, except perhaps for his seemingly innate eye for goal. While playing for his local youth team near Paris, he was spotted by a Monaco scout, amazed at having witnessed six goals being scored by a player whose team-mates were already referring to him as ‘Titi’. Sent to the renowned Clairefontaine academy, it was there he first encountered Arsene Wenger, who persuaded him to sign for Monaco in 1993.
Aware of the rough diamond that had begun to shine at their club, the Monaco players took the new recruit under their wing, especially the Brazilian Sonny Anderson, who regularly passed on valuable advice. By the age of just 17, Henry was already playing in French football’s top tier. His first season saw him make eight appearances and score three goals, figures that would gradually increase over time, particularly in Europe, where he notched up seven goals in nine matches in the UEFA Champions League in season 1997/98. All things considered, that was an exceptional season for Henry; he also managed to break into the national set-up alongside his team-mate David Trezeguet, with whom he would lift the FIFA World Cup™ later that summer.
The world champions’ top goalscorer at that tournament with 3 goals, Henry signed for Juventus a few months later. Rarely and poorly utilised, mainly on the left wing, he would only go on to make 20 appearances for the Turin side, and escaped to Arsenal seven months after his move to Italy. Criticised for being incapable of establishing himself at a major club, it would not take him long to silence the doubters. He was unaware of it at the time, but his transfer to London would see him change position, and become a legend.
Moved into a central striking role by his former mentor Arsene Wenger, Henry quickly began to rack up the goals that would eventually deliver numerous titles, the team captaincy, the adoration of the Arsenal fans and, finally, hero status at Highbury. He would also break many records, leaving the great Ian Wright in his wake to become the club’s leading goalscorer of all time. In Gunners colours, very few honours escaped him, as he snapped up two league titles, three FA Cups and a Champions League final appearance. And whenever he was unable to finish the season as the Premier League’s top scorer, as he did in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006, he contented himself with having provided the highest number of assists in the league, as he did in 2001 and 2003. During this period, he also became France’s first-choice attacking option, experiencing the highs (UEFA Euro 2000) and lows (2002 FIFA World Cup) of international football.
His only disappointment during his time in London was failing to bring the prestigious Champions League trophy back to Highbury, although he came close in 2006, falling at the final hurdle against Barcelona. This gap in his footballing CV would eventually be filled playing for the very same team that destroyed Arsenal’s dreams in that final. In the summer of 2007, Henry signed for the Catalan giants, a move that proved hard to swallow for the Arsenal fans who had voted the skilful Frenchman as the best player in the history of their club.
But move he did, and joined Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto’o in an attacking triumvirate that terrified defences in Spain and across Europe, as Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona side collected an unheard-of six trophies in 2009. Just when it appeared that Henry’s career was nearing a fitting conclusion, 2010 turned into something of a nightmare for him. Henry's fourth appearance at a FIFA World Cup could see the great man turn out for Les Bleus for the last time at a major tournament. That should give him added motivation, as if he needed it, to write an exciting new page in the history of French football, and pen a final chapter in his own footballing masterpiece.
Wesley SNEIJDER Profile

- Date of Birth: 9 June 1984
- Height: 170 cm
- Shirt number: 10
- Position: Midfielder
- Current club: Inter (ITA)
- International Caps: 68
- International Goals: 19
- First international: Netherlands - Portugal
(30 April 2003)
Club History
- Real Madrid (ESP): From 2007 to 2009
- Ajax (NED): From 2001 to 2007
"I still don’t know why Real let him go,” said former Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho recently. “Sometimes at clubs, there’s a logic that’s hard to understand. Today, he’s a key member of our team.” Not one to offer praise unduly, the Portuguese tactician has clearly come to hold the Dutch playmaker in the highest regard, having watched him recapture the form he displayed for Ajax before Real Madrid splashed out €27m for his services in summer 2007.
A stalwart at the heart of the Netherlands side during the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ qualifiers, the elegant schemer from Utrecht contested just five matches on the road to South Africa. Oranje coach Bert van Marwijk sees him as the natural orchestrator of his team’s attacking play, however, and having hit his physical peak with his confidence sky high, Sneijder will now be looking to build on his UEFA EURO 2008 showing, when he earned himself a place in the Team of the Tournament. Previously an international at Under-17, U-19 and U-21 level, the Nerazzurri provocateur twice won Man of the Match plaudits in Austria and Switzerland as the Netherlands swept aside both Italy and France in the group stage. Five years before that, in November 2003, he gave early notice of his prodigious talent by scoring twice and conjuring four assists in a 6-0 win over Scotland.
At ease with both feet, Sneijder has precious few peers in Europe when it comes to his passing ability. He can also speed up the play or slow it down when needed, while his set-piece ability is second to none and his long-range shooting has brought him a hatful of spectacular goals, such as his double against Siena in January. It is no coincidence that Inter hardly ever lose when he is on the pitch.
Brought through the ranks at Ajax originally, he made his maiden Eredivisie appearance at the age of 18 and soon seduced the Amsterdam ArenA faithful with his superior playmaking skills, going on to become a central figure as the capital side clinched league honours in 2003/04. The Dutch Cup followed in 2006 and a year later, having struck 18 goals in his most prolific season, Sneijder left Ajax for life in La Liga. He made the best of starts for Real when he scored the winner in the Madrid derby on his debut, and he was soon handed responsibility for organising the team’s attacks by coach Bernd Schuster.
At the end of a successful first campaign in the Spanish capital, Sneijder could look back on nine goals from 30 games and a league winner’s medal. The following year could hardly have been more different, though, as the Dutchman suffered the effects of an injury picked up pre-season. Sidelined for three months, he lost his place in the starting line-up and never regained it. That opened the door to his Serie A switch in August 2009, with his first game for Inter also a derby. The Nerazzurri triumphed 4-0 against eternal rivals AC Milan and Sneijder stamped his class all over the occasion. Liable to pop up anywhere on the pitch, he built on that performance to mark out his first season in Italy as a stunning success.
Joan CAPDEVILA Profile

- Date of Birth: 3 February 1978
- Height: 182 cm
- Shirt number: 11
- Position: Defender
- Current club: Villarreal (ESP)
- International Caps: 52
- International Goals: 4
- First international: Spain - Paraguay
(16 October 2002)
Club History
- Deportivo La Coruña (ESP): From 2000 to 2007
- Atlético Madrid (ESP): From 1999 to 2000
- RCD Espanyol (ESP): From 1998 to 1999
- RCD Espanyol B (ESP): From 1997 to 1998
Given the scarcity of genuine contenders for Spain's left-back berth in recent years, Joan Capdevila's blossoming into the role could not have come at a better time. Currently playing his club football for Villarreal, Capdevila has extensive experience wearing his country's red jersey, going all the way back to the silver-medal winning squad at the Olympic Football Tournament Sydney 2000.
An Espanyol youth product, in 1999/00 he joined capital heavyweights Atletico de Madrid only to endure the ignominy of relegation to Spain's second tier. Following the Sydney Olympics, however, he was on the move again, this time to Deportivo La Coruna, where he helped his new side to consecutive La Liga runners-up finishes and picked up winners' medals in the 2002 Copa del Rey and two Spanish Supercopas.
His full international debut came in October 2002 and Capdevila travelled to UEFA EURO 2004 in Portugal, though he missed out on a starting berth. He subsequently failed to make the squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™, though his excellent performances since joining Villarreal in 2007 brought him back into the picture.
Often deployed as a left-midfielder earlier in his career, Capdevila has not lost the ability to attack effectively, particularly his pinpoint crossing and long-distance shooting. And by combining this forward-thinking approach with a solid defensive game, he made the Spain left-back slot his own in time to triumph at EURO 2008.

Mauna Kea Gunung Tertinggi Sebenarnya

1. Pengukuran dilakukan dari atas permukaan laut (from above sea level).
2. Pengukuran dilakukan dari dasar gunung (from its bottom/base).
